Is it safe to have a CT angiography in which a dye is injected in to the veins? Can it cause an allergic reaction? Should I get this done only in a hospital with a doctor on standby?

CT angiography is always done with a dye injected into the vein of the arm. If there is a known allergy to the dye, then the doctor must be alerted of the same. In some cases, people unaware of such an allergy can have an adverse reaction. CT angios are always done with a Doctor in the room along with a crash cart on stand-by.
