It is good that you chose to share your problem with others through PatientsEngage.
In all probability, your drowsiness is due to medicines you are taking for schizophrenia. You say that you are under treatment for the last six years but you are feeling sleepy for the last few months. Has there been a change in your medicines recently? You need to discuss it with your psychiatrist. He might modify your prescription. You also need a few counselling sessions with a good counsellor. It is also desirable that one of your family members accompanies you when you see your psychiatrist and go for sessions with a counsellor.
You may defer for sometime, your plan to look for a job. Delay in getting a job or not getting a job as per your background would cause distress and frustration. Retaining a job can be stressful which might aggravate symptoms. Best wishes for early recovery. Amrit
Most of us fall asleep while reading a book or watching TV. Therefore, this need not be a concern for you.

Hi ! You are not alone there. Lot of people feel this way.
You have mentioned that you are on medication for 6 years and these symptoms are there for the past 3-4 months only. If you are attempting tasks which require great deal of concentration after a long break ( eg: studies) this can happen. You should try studying for 30 -40 minutes and take a break for 5-10 minutes before resuming. This way you can stay focused better.
A brisk walk or jog in the mornings will help too.
I presume you are taking medication at nights. If you could take them as early as 6.30pm or 7pm before food, you will feel fresher the next day.

A healthy diet with a good amount of fresh veggies and fruits and proteins will do. You don't need supplements.
I hope this helps.

You could discuss with your treating psychiatrist about dose adjustments of medication and need for nutritional supplements.

Hi, I engage with people with mental health issues at their work place. I agree with the other commentators on this thread and

I would suggest the following;

1. Focus on getting physically active by running, walking at a gym or a park for minimum 30 mins a day, start playing a game like badminton, cricket etc. This is very important for our physical and mental well being. Consult a doctor on whether you can do strength training, this will help with muscle loss.
2. Make sure you are having small light meals before you focus on studying. A heavy meal will make you feel lethargic.
3. Get adequate sleep during the night so that there is no sleep deprivation during the day.
4. Find work that you like doing and push yourself to be regular at it. It may not be what you expected but working can help you fight most issues.
5. Read and do activities that you really enjoy and look forward to - this will help prevent boredom.
All the best.
