Hi
I am 42 yrs old I had meniscus repair surgery of rt knee last month I am recovering well and doing physiotherapy excercises regularly I want to know that are there more chances for me to develop arthritis later in life . I was having problems only while taking to stairs up and down.I was active doing aerobics and yoga cardio .

In meniscal tear surgeries, part or entire meniscus which is cartilage is removed. This cartilage loss is now known to be detrimental for the knee joint. Studies have shown that people with meniscal surgeries have a higher risk for developing arthritis within a year.

Suggest that you exercise regularly and do yoga (get doctor advice - on which asanas you can start with). This will help build muscle and help keep the joints in better health.
