The best way to prevent ringworm is by keeping the area clean and dry. Wearing loose cotton clothing or dry socks is helpful. Drying oneself completely after a shower is important. Avoid sharing clothes, towel or napkins with anyone. Do not walk bare-feet in wet areas such as bathroom, lockers etc. If you have a pet with skin rash, get it checked out immediately. Most ringworm is successfully treated with antifungal creams available over the counter. If there is no improvement with the cream, then oral antifungal may be required.
