If the diabetes is treated with insulin, many laboratories do tend to refuse the donor. In most cases, if the blood glucose level is well controlled and there are no complications (kidney or cardiovascular), then donation is accepted.

Its absolutely wonderful that you are planning to donate. As Dr. Shital said, if you are on insulin some labs may refuse. Please make sure your BP is under control as well,

Dear Sukumar, your fasting and post meal blood glucose levels are both high. I would focus on getting them under control (less than 100 for fasting and less than 140 for post meal) before thinking of donating blood.

I have stopped using medicine as my fasting sugar level is around 110 recently. Do I need to take medicine even though I do not experience any symptoms of higher sugar count?

Dear Mr Jogarao, it's always best to not stop any prescribed medication without consulting the doctor first. Diabetes is a chronic illness and hence require daily medication and monitoring. I hope you are keeping a watch on you blood glucose levels and dietary intake.
