Brown sugar and white sugar are same calorifically. So a tsp of either will give 20 calories. But comparitively brown sugar is still, marginally a better choice, because unlike white sugar it does not undergo the bleaching process and consists of last bit of molasses which may have certain nutrients in trace amounts.
Ultimately brown sugar is also refined cane sugar which when consumed in excess will create similar health complications like white sugar. So regulate its consumption overall.
