Juliana Lim has had Type 2 diabetes for 27 years. Here she shares her tips to handle the CNY festive season 

My way of eating applies consistently throughout irregardless of festive seasons. They are:

  1. Eat using the PLATE concept (50% green leafy vegetables, 25% protein, 25% unpolished rice)
     
  2. Eat in moderation, stay put in the 3 meals, do not over indulge in more meals like snacks, snacks and snacks.
     
  3. CNY /festive goodies, eat with care. Ensure you have enough fresh fibre intake because they aid in sugar management.
     
  4. Hydrate yourself with water regularly (Not applicable for those with kidney problems)
     
  5. Movements, do not be idle, movements of all sorts aid in better diabetes management.

Understand your body, take your medications, exercise, be happy, be in control mindset.
