I came upon these two articles and thought it is worth sharing them. What's been your experience? What would you recommend to people in this situation? It could be you, it could be your colleague. Do share your experience and thoughts

We spend so much of our time at work. We have friends there. The work place is such a key part of our lives. To have to leave work while undergoing treatment would be another blow. I would think that if you are physically able to work while undergoing treatment, it would keep you sane and you maintain some normality to your life. Your health and impaired immunity may need your office to make some accommodations or adjustments and your boss could help with that.

The workplace can be a great support system and work itself can be a great distractor and de-stressor. Many patients I know continue to work through their treatment course as long as they are mobile, Employers are considerate enough to provide flexible hours and sufficient leave.

I did come across one situation where thr organisation and the employees were trying to work around the person's absence but over a prolonged period, it started to become difficult. Especially since they could not get a substitute head count and they were already short staffed.
