Do diabetics have to be more careful if they catch a cold or fever?

Diabetics do have to be more careful when catching even a common cold or fever because they have slower healing and simple infections can become prolonged and/or worsened. Additionally when the body is fighting an infection, the blood sugar levels also rise and require more medication and control.

I think you have to be positive too, though. You should be careful, of course, but if you spend your whole life thinking, 'Oh my God, I'm going to fall sick,' that's not good either. Particularly if you do get something, it's best not to over stress. That can actually help the healing process.
