I would like to know from Smt. Chitra Paul, who has written an article in your page, if she thinks that the representation of disability in children's literature as positive.
It will be very helpful for my research if I get a reply from her.
Thanks in advance 😃

Hi Devi, Thank you for…
Hi Devi,
Thank you for reaching out. So at the onset let me put it across that my response is mostly from a parent perspective and having written the article. I have come across two forms of representation - one being of no representation at all and the other being of positive representation and at times a little bit leaning towards inspirational representation. Of the two the no representation is worse because that way there is no acknowledgement even of disabled people. But again I would also like to stress that even wholly positive representation is skewed because disabled people do not have a halo around them. That the representation needs to be more realistic in terms of showing both positive and negative traits without letting the disability being the entire focus is whats essential. I hope this helps.
