A well researched and comprehensive article on the issue of pain and palliative medication around the world. The addiction to opioids in countries like America and Canada while on the other hand, people in poor and middle income countries, patients suffering from cancer and other terminal illnesses often die in excruciating pain since they do not have access for palliative medication.

Some countries like India, Ukraine and Colombia have amended their laws to make it easier for patients to get morphine and opioids from their doctors. But there is often lack of awareness among the doctors too.

Much more needs to be done.
