Hi everyone,

It's a pleasure to be here.

On one hand, cancers are increasing by leaps and bounds. Except for few cancers, most are rising rapidly. This is the bad news. But the good news is that, our understanding and research in cancer has progressed phenomenally, and we have wonderful outcomes in cancer treatment today, and much increased survival rates as compared to earlier.

Also, if you see the statistics of the western nations, you will realize that they have very good survival rates for most cancers. For example, for breast cancer, the 5 year survival rate is upwards of 95%. (For india, it is about 50 to 60% only, according to rough statistics). There are many reasons for it, the most important of them being - 'alertness'. If one is aware and catches cancer early, chances of cure are high.

So, please be informed. Early detection definitely saves lives.

Thank you Dr. Sumeet Shah for joining. We believe that if we can create more awareness around regular screening and helping to take the stigma out of the condition, we can help people live longer and better.

I wish i can shout at you !!!! When I first discovered something under my mothers breast something hard. I brought my mother to the polyclinic and all the doctor said was ' is there any pain madam?' Of course the old lady will say NO ! I said she was complaining of pain at home. He said its probably just a muscle pull because her breast is fatty. I said i felt a hardening. he didnt even check her breasts. Just brushed it aside and said he will focus on her diabetes.

Three months later, my sister and I brought her again citing the hardening to be quite hard when touched. This time another doctor sent my mother for tests and to our sadness my mother had stage 3 breast cancer. She had a mastectomy done and now after 4 months we can start therapy !!! She is 74 !! So for people to say early detection saves life!! I say educate your doctors first ! Sorry for being rude but I detected something amiss but i was brushed aside ! Come up with a better slogan.
