Parkinson's is an individualistic disease i.e. rate of progress and specific symptoms differ from person to person. In general, YOPD is known to progress slower. You may reasonably expect your dad's PD to be managed well with medicines for next 5 to 10 years or even more. Do not think beyond that. Landscape is changing with a lot of research and new therapies coming in.
As to how you can help your dad, here is my sugggestion:

1. Ensure you are consulting the right doctor. PD is best treated by a Movement Disorder Specialist. If you are from a smaller city where MDS is not availale, you may consider teleconsulting at least once in six months or a year.
2. Encourage him to exercise regularly.
3. Be alert toany drastic mood changes or apathy and encourage him to share with you if he feels depressed. Share with your doc.
4. Encourage him to socialise.
DISCLAIMER: I am a PD patient and not a doctor. The above advise is based on my exp and reading and should be taken as such.
