Your friend is a caregiver and you don't know how to help...here are 10 tips

1. Don’t say, “What can I do to help?”. Just do it.

2. Remember me before I was a caregiver

3. Please don’t stop including/inviting me. I need to know I am wanted.

4. Don’t try to fix my situation. Don’t stop being the listener you always were.

5. Let me know you think of me – Many days I feel forgotten by the world.

6. Follow my lead – There are times I need to talk. Sometimes I just need to be quiet and know that you’re there with me.

7. Don’t judge me – The house is often a mess. I’m often a mess. Pretend you don’t see it so I can pretend it’s not that bad.

8. Make me laugh – I spend so much time crying I forget how it feels to laugh.

9. Surprise me now and again – I don’t get many surprises, at least not the good kind.

10. Don’t pity me. Don’t feel sorry for me. If you’re lucky, you’ll care for your parents someday, too.
