I am a female aged 25. Since last two years, I'm feeling pulsatile tinnitus. I can hear my heartbeat every time the heart pumps blood. I have had all tests done. There's also pain in the backside of my head spreading to the neck and shoulders and trapezius muscle. I weigh 97 kg currently. Please help. I have a desk job between 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. I also engage in gym resistance training and cardio for almost two hours a day.

Pulsatile or vascular tinnitus is due to the blood circulation that occurs in and around the ear area. Hearing a ringing or wooshing sound in the ear every time the hear pumps blood is a characteristic sign of Pulsatile tinnitus. Diagnosis and treatment is usually directed by a Cardiologist after thorough testing. Maintenance of blood pressure, weight loss, cholesterol control are some of the ways to address the underlying cause. It is hence important to ask your doctor regarding the cause of your tinnitus and proceed with his prescribed route of treatment.
