Can a person suffering from mental disorder and stable on medication accompany spouse when the spouse travels related to the office work to other countries for kind of 3 to 6 months. The couple live in India. The person needs to carry prescribed medicines.

Yes, I see no problem. Lot many user survivors of mental illness travel freely with a companion or even without a companion. The user survivor should keep enough stock of prescribed medicines to last during the travel period and also keep the prescription with him/her in case any one checks at the time of immigration. Please also inform the attending psychiatrist about your plan to visit overseas and request him/her to prescribe an SOS medicine to be taken in the unlikely event of an emergency. An emergency can happen with any body including those who have no history of mental illness. So stop worrying and enjoy your holiday with your companion.

Val Resh also says: "I've travelled with medications all the time. They mostly don't ask unless it is a large quantity where I check them in and keep few in my hand luggage. As long as you carry your doctor's prescription for the same amount of dosage it is good enough."
