I just came across this post by Doug Leddin of Dublin. He speaks candidly about his own experience of depression, and how he's been suffering from it for the last 10 years and how he has hidden it from his closest friends.

His following statements made so much sense: "What we actually fear the most is 

- that our friends will not understand and we'll lose them,

- that our family will know what we are going though but won't get it

- that our colleagues will look at us differently and that we may lose our jobs

thats just the stigma that we believe exists in ourselves

...

I'm talking about depression and it's something we all need to talk more about. For too long people have suffered in silence and it's not right."

No one should go through this alone
