IPCF or Indian Prostrate Cancer Foundation is going to great lengths to create awareness of this rising affliction with the slogan “Prostate Cancer is curable if detected early”. They have tied up with various organisations to help carry their message to the masses.

Indian Prostate Cancer Foundation (IPCF), in association with PatientsEngage, is trying to create awareness among the vast and the quickly expanding online community about prostate cancer through various joint initiatives.

IPCF is very proud to associate this December with ‘Artists Conclave’ -- a creative outburst of emotions and ideas on canvas. Funds raised through the initiative,‘Artitude’, will help fund the project “Operation Prostate Cancer” to “Protect men who Protect us”, a project of IPCF in association with ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme) to create awareness and conduct free screening for veterans of the Armed Forces.

Knowledge is the key to awareness and awareness helps in early detection of prostate cancer. Indian Prostate Cancer Foundation works to prevent needless suffering due to prostate cancer. IPCF conducts awareness campaigns among different groups of the community and talks about the disease, importance of early detection, treatment modalities and cure. Our work among various groups have led us to realise that the awareness about prostate cancer and the disease itself is very low but the incidence is on the rise. Adyar Cancer Institute statistics show an increase of 4.2% every year in Chennai. It usually affects men over the age of 50 and a simple blood test called the PSA test followed by a digital rectal examination can help suspect 85% of prostate cancer.

IPCF in collaboration with Big Bazaar celebrated Father’s Day Event recently. We had a Signature Campaign, a photo session to cherish the moment and take home the message “Prostate Cancer is curable if detected early” to their Dads.

Awareness campaigns and screenings were done for police officers at Anna Salai Police Station. IPCF collaborated with Murugappa group – TI Cycles, and conducted awareness programmes for the employees at Ambattur and Avadi units.

In association with Krishna Sweets, we also did a media campaign for their Founder’s Day and awareness programmes at 70 places around Chennai. IPCF also organised a breakfast event with a panel discussion on 'Keeping Friendships and Relationships Alive' as these are the bonds and one requires support from when affected by the disease. The panelists were Ms. Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, Mr. Avis Viswanathan, Ms. Srekala Barath, Mr. T.N.Manoharan and was moderated by Mr. Raja Krishnamoorthy.

When an iconic landmark in the city turned blue in support of prostate cancer, people took notice of the cause. IPCF organised a short walk, "Walk to Light" from Gandhi Statue to the Lighthouse on Marina Beach and lit it in blue to create awareness about prostate cancer. Director Ahathiyan led the walk. It was a beautiful event with the public and many college students coming out in support.

Through the various activities, IPCF has reached out to almost 5000 people. The task is huge but we are taking small but sure steps in reaching our goal. We request you to join our cause and help fight the disease.
