Collage of nurses on world health day

We decided to find out what the nurses wanted - from patients, and from their doctor colleagues. We asked some of these hard-working professionals the following questions:

What do nurses want from patients?
What do nurses want from doctors?
A thought for World health day!

Nurse Priyanka Girkar

  1. Show respect and encourage participation.
  2. As a nurse, I can say that as more and more patients come to the door, doctors are pressuring you. They should also understand the pressure on the nurse.
  3. Nurses are ready to fight against.COVID19! You stay home and stay safe!

Nurse Pratibha Sawalkar

  1. Understanding from the patient about our situation (in lockdown days we cannot visit patients at home). We would like respect from patient and relatives and to coordinate with us if they have any query about medication or treatment but please don'tstop it themselves.
  2. We want:
    • Understanding from doctors about our situation because sometimes we take time to complete our work.
    • Respect and equality from doctors.
    • Proper communication and coordination.
  3. The situation is getting worse because the people  are not understanding the severity of the COVID-19 disease, so please stay at home, safe and healthy.

Nurse Ashwini Mohite

  1. Patient comfort.
  2. We need a doctor's trust.
  3. Let us not only pray for each other’s good health and wellbeing but also reaffirm our gratitude towards all those doctors, nurses, medical staff and health workers who are bravely leading the battle against the Covid 19.

These inputs were taken for World Health Day in April 2020 during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic
