It’s 2018. The beginning of a New Year. Time for resolutions and reflections; time to pen down dreams and desires, to think afresh and ring in change for the better. We’ve rounded up some New Year resolutions from our contributors that will make them stronger, healthier and happier. Pen down and share your own resolutions here.

Vidya, living with Rheumatoid Arthritis

  1. Regular Exercise: This is going to be top most on the agenda.
  2. Meditation: it helps me keep my emotions in check and stay calm and mindful.
  3. Timely Eating

  1. Curing Multiple Myeloma and creating a record.
  2. To support Myeloma Friends Charitable Trust and Multiple Myeloma Support Group
  3. To have a big event for fund raising and making a big difference in Myeloma thrivers life.

Ashish Kejriwal, living with Schizophrenia

I am looking to have a sound mind and body from now onwards. A few things on my list are:

  1. Abstinence from Alcohol: To keep my mind in equilibrium and also avoid undue interaction with my medicines.
  2. Exercising regularly: Slowly build my capacity to enjoy physical activities.
  3. Nurturing my Skills and Talents: The heart factor for overall satisfaction in life.
  4. Managing healthy Sleep cycle: Feeling well energized after a good sleep.

  1. Eat healthy
  2. Sleep better
  3. Less mobile time
  4. Walk/ run at least thrice a week
  5. And hike every month!

I think I belong to the other end of the spectrum - I have always been very careful about following ‘health rules’ in general. But I increasingly realise that happiness is more important than ticking all the boxes.

  1. To not fuss about following every rule to the minutest detail
  2. Lead an easy yet responsible routine.

I do not have plans, but I feel bad that I have become dependent on Syndopa, which makes me a little dizzy.  I want to get better: because I have to live for my son and my family.

  1. Continue Buddhist Chanting: gives me a lot of mental strength.
  2. Continue with my Kriya Yoga: It has lessened my body cramps to a large extent.
  3. To get much more positive in life.

For me, this year is not going to be about disability. My resolution is to-

  1. Make it a better place for everyone by helping to bring in change.
  2. Want more people to see your ability, not your disability.
  3. To achieve more in my profession
  4. To learning more music and releasing my own album.
  5. Also, hoping to get more strength back in my limbs.
